The visit by Acting Inspector General of Police, COP James Oppong Boanuh was kept on low profile. Media personnel were asked to give the privacy and the meeting was generally to console them for the trauma they have gone through for the past one year, waiting in vain, plead for their continuing cooperation and to assure them of frantic efforts to bring finality to the subject.
He was accompanied by few top Police officers including COP Kofi Boakye and the Western regional Police Commander, DCOP Vincent Redeemer Dedjoe.
The acting IGP’s visit comes in the wake of recent criticisms amidst demands for the resignation of Police CID boss, COP Maame Tiwa Addo Danquah, after remains of four bodies were pulled from a septic tank behind the house where jailed Nigerian suspect, Samuel Udoetuk-Willis resided, for misleading comments that raised hopes and has dented the image of the service.
The objective TV XYZ News understands is also to re-assure families of the victims after recent comments suggesting lack of confidence in the Service when some of the affected families demanded an independent doctor before offering any assistance to conduct DNA tests to see if they match with human remains retrieved from the septic tank behind the suspect’s residence at Kansawerewdo.
IGP, COP Oppong Buanuh’s delegation consoled families of the victims for the trauma they are enduring and assured them of every effort to bring finality to the crime.
COP James Oppong Bonuah also assured residents of adequate security, called for vigilance and relevant information on suspicious characters to help in crime prevention.
