Despite being total blind renowned record producer, Kwadwo Akwaboah Senior, is hopeful that his sight will be restored before he dies.
The highlife musician and pianist who has gone blind for about a decade now says he does not accept he’s blind.
Kwadwo Akwaboah Senior went blind in Holland a decade ago when he travelled to the European country to procure musical instruments to aid in his recording.
While away the eye problems began. It began with his left eye. So, he rushed to Ghana to seek medical attention. Upon his return, he relied on his right eye to work but it happened that he woke up one day and realized that the right eye was also gone.
Speaking on the second edition of TV XYZ’s Legends programme which seeks to celebrate veterans in the creative arts industry and the media fraternity, the ‘Hini Me’ crooner insisted that he is not blind.
When asked by the show host, Agyemang Prempeh, if he could see and tell the colour of the shirt he was wearing, he answered in the negative.
“I don’t accept [I’m blind] I promise the next time I see you I will, I will come here and tell you I am here.
One thing is as human, you’ve to make sure you believe in yourself. You don’t have to lose control of yourself,” Akwaboah Snr added.
If not for Covid-19 which has caused global scourge, Kwadwo Akwaboah said God would’ve healed him of the sickness.
Although he intimated that his blindness is a spiritual sickness he was tight-lipped on disclosing whether it was caused by friends in the music industry or family members.
The ‘Awere Kyekyere’ hitmaker revealed that he’s currently seeking treatment for the sickness and would return to the treatment centre when the novel coronavirus disease is contained.
