Actress Grace Omaboe known professionally as Maame Dokono has expressed her uttermost disappointment in President Nana Akufo-Addo for the unfair treatment meted out to her when she fell sick.
The legendary actress bamoaned the negligence of the President and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) she sympathizes with.
“Recently I fell sick Nana [Akufo-Addo] didn’t pay me a visit,” disappointed Maame Dokono said on TV XYZ’s Legends programme on Sunday July 26, 2020.
Maame Dokono endorsed the candidature of Nana Addo Darkwa Akufo-Addo and campaigned for the New Patriotic Party after she left the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the build up to the 2008 presidential elections.
On account of this decision, filmmakers in the country banned her from the movie industry with the excuse she’s no more marketable due to her political affiliations.
Maame Dokono, known by many as an actress and philanthropist discloses Nana Akufo-Addo couldn’t send a get-well-soon message to her.
Asked by the host if the president knew about her health condition, the multiple award-winning actress answered in the affirmative.
She added that, “He knew I was sick. He knew I was unwell but he did not reach out to me. He could have sent someone on his behalf but he didn’t. But it’s nothing.”
The 74-year-old thespian who was at the forefront of Ghanaian politics advised members of the creative, arts, and tourism industry against doing politics.
Heeding to this advice, the veteran actress said, will save their career and prevent them from being victimized in the society.
