There is heavy deployment of Police-Military personnel to Nambiri, a farming community in the Chereponi district, North East region following renewed clashes that left several houses torched.

Displaced residents are living in fear over possible reprisal attacks between Konkombas and Anufors.

No immediate arrests were made after the latest clashes triggered by a stry bullet which hit a man on motorcycle last Saturday afternoon. It yet to be established if the victim survived after he was rushed to a health facility at Mongo in neighbouring Togo for treatment.

The latest violence comes barely three days after President Nana Akufo-Addo visited the area as part of his tour of the newly created regions, during which he pleaded with the people in the area to live in peace to promote development. The conflict which started since 2017 has claimed about 20 lives with more than 1,500 village folks displaced.
