Getting a moniker in high school based on something you like, what you often do or your physical appearance is not an alien in our society.

Intriguingly, legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician, Akosua Agyapong is no different.

The multiple award-winning singer and dancer during her high school days at Cape Coast was given a nickname by friends.

“I was called Small Robot and Lizzy Yoyo,” Akosua Agyapong disclosed on the Legends show which aired on TV XYZ on Sunday, July 5 2020.

Explaining to Agyemang Prempeh the show host the rationale behind the ‘Small Robot’ nickname, she said it was because of her stature and how well she could dance.

“I was smallish and I used to really dance I did things so the students bestowed on me. When you got to Mfantsipim, Adisadel and say Small Robot everyone knew me,” she said.

Akosua Agyapong, whose alma mater is Holy Child High School intimated that the second nickname was a sobriquet.

“And those days I was called Elizabeth Agyapong. I swore an affidavit and used my Twi name to do music”
