“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it people will eventually come to believe it” – (Joseph Goebbels, German Nazi Politician and Minister for Propaganda)
For those who care to know, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the only political party in Ghana that wholly subscribes to the doctrine of propaganda in political communication and political discourse. NPP fully abides by the tenets of political double-speak, deceptive political communication and even though they appear to project a façade of decency and sophistry, they are nonetheless accomplished purveyors of vices and skullduggery in politics and nothing otherwise virtuous.
Why do you think before and after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) elected former President John Dramani Mahama as their presidential candidate to contest the 2020 presidential elections many NPP supporters including those perceived to be educated and of high social standing continue to lament that NDC had made a big mistake in choosing John Mahama? You would have been forgiven into thinking that had NDC chosen another presidential candidate besides John Mahama all the crocodile tears from NPP supporters would have made them vote for NDC on December 7, 2020.
The gullibility and pliability of NPP supporters in Ghana politics is legendary because they are the only political party whose members share the unique behavioral trait of actually believing their party propaganda to be gospel truth. NPP gullibility was once again manifested when they continued to lament that John Mahama was struggling to find and name his Vice President aspirant because no one wanted to partner him on the NDC presidential ticket. NPP supporters having imbibed their own NPP propaganda kept harping that any NDC Vice Presidential Aspirant would suffer the same fate and die like the late Vice President John Amissah-Arthur and as such no one wanted to partner John Mahama.
You may wonder why NPP supporters in the first place should be worried whether or not NDC selected John Mahama as their Presidential candidate if they genuinely believed that John Mahama would lose the 2020 elections. Again why should NPP bother if the Vice Presidential Candidate of NDC was destined to die prematurely if they themselves would not be pursuing a self-fulfilling prophecy and plan to “physically of spiritually assassinate” NDC’s Vice Presidential aspirant and they were also not under any circumstances even going to vote for NDC.
On the subject of Vice Presidents dying prematurely under Ghana’s fourth Republican constitutional era, NPP should remember that they have also lost a former Vice President in the person of the late Vice President Aliu Mahama, and so if it is not for propaganda purposes, why is NPP playing the morbid propaganda narrative of wishing untimely death for NDC Vice Presidential aspirant..
“A lie told often enough becomes the truth” – (Vladimir Lenin, former Russian President)
It is laughable that NPP has the effrontery and audacity to continue pointing accusatory fingers of corruption against John Mahama and NDC when in under 4 years in office they (NPP) have not only outdoored their flagship PDS corruption scandal which arguably renders all their past, current and future allegations of corruption levelled against John Mahama and NDC to pale into insignificance compared to the ECG-PDS scandal.
NPP whenever caught in their tracks have the perchance for dabbling into the politics of equalization so we ask NPP to answer for themselves whether in monetary financial terms, the so-called Alfred Woyome Gh₡51 million financial loss to the Ghanaian tax payer compares favorably to the Nana Akufo-Addo family and friends estimated Gh₡1.5 billion electricity bill proceeds pocketed by PDS for between 4 – 5 months and which was used to pay for the Al Koot botched fraudulent Insurance Demand Guarantee after PDS failed to use their own money to meet the conditions precedent for the ECG-PDS Concession agreement.
Again NPP should answer to Ghanaians whether the financial loss of US$190 million that Ghana has incurred by forfeiting the reaming balance of the United States Millennium Challenge Corporation (MIDA Compact II) foreign grant aid to Ghana due to the termination of the ECG-PDS Concession agreement on account of the insatiable greed exhibited by Nana Akufo-Addo and his notable family members of Edward “Bumpty” Akufo-Addo, Ken Ofori-Atta, Gabby Otchere-Darko, Nana Asante Bediatuo, and friends comprised of Philip Ayesu, Kelly Gadzekpo & Co is less or more than all their allegations of corruption leveled against John Mahama and NDC.
Fellow Ghanaians, the US$ 190 million PDS financial loss to Ghana would have made a big impact on the Ghanaian economy through the numerous projects such as:
- Energy sector – numerous ECG substations could have been upgraded across the country to improve the quality of electricity supply and bring an end to the “low current phenomenon”
- Education sector – many schools under trees would have been constructed and many Senior High Schools would have been constructed/completed to support Free SHS. Also facilities in Public tertiary institutions (i.e. Universities and Polytechnics) would have been completed etc.
- Roads – many roads across the county would have been constructed/completed.
“Politics have no relation to morals” – (Niccolo Machiavelli, Italian Diplomat & Philosopher)
Today the name Edward Mahama a relative of John Mahama together with the pneumonic GO-1 (Government Official-1) mentioned in a report on the alleged US $5.0 million Airbus Bribery Scandal in the USA and UK, an incident which did not cause any financial loss to Ghana because Airbus itself paid “finder’s fee payment” to their own “commission agents” who allegedly facilitated Ghana’s procurement of 2 Aircraft from Airbus is an issue that NPP wants to make a “mountain out of a molehill”!
Nana Akufo-Addo and NPP should give us a break because Ghana did not lose US$5.0 million from the Airbus transaction unlike the Gh₡1.5 billion and US$190 million that Ghana has lost as a result of PDS. In any case NPP through John Peter Amewu (Minister of Energy) by their own admission have publicly confirmed that PDS engaged in a fraudulent transaction when they posted a fake Insurance Demand Guarantee after Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (Vice President) watered down and signed off the requirement for PDS to provide a Bank Demand Guarantee which would have better safeguarded and protected the assets of Electricity Corporation of Ghana for the good people of Ghana.
“If an injury has to be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared” – (Niccolo Machiavelli, Italian Diplomat & Philosopher)
During the 2016 election campaign Nana Akufo-Addo and NPP got away with their propaganda narratives and succeeded in tagging John Mahama and NDC as corrupt and incompetent. For the 2020 election campaign however Nana Addo-Akufo and NPP cannot resort to the same propaganda narratives that they used in 2016 having inflicted upon themselves through their insatiable greed and corruption tainted capers of nepotism and cronyism, litany of almost daily corruption scandals, and monumental unprecedented size of government comprised of over 120 Ministers of State and over 1,000 presidential staffers that exists nowhere on earth.
NPP, please come again on the issues of corruption!
