Battor Mankralo Gives To Battor Catholic Hospital

The Mankralo of the Battor traditional area in the North Tongu district of the Volta Region, Togbui Xervi Borbordzi XII, has donated some equipment and other valuables worth several thousands of cedis to the Battor Catholic Hospital.

The gesture, according to the Mankralo, was borne out of love and affection toward the sick, and, in particular, the vulnerable within the community to ensure effective healthcare delivery for the community.

The area, which is predominantly a farming community, can only boast of a single health facility although it has over 89,000 inhabitants.

The facility, which serves the locals and patients from other areas such as the Dangme East and West districts of the Greater Accra region, has partially become dependent on some benevolent institutions and individuals to survive.

Speaking in an interview after a ceremony to hand over the items to the hospital, Togbui Xervi Borbordzi XII noted that the facility, since its inception, has continued to serve people in the community as well as other from afar, hence the need to support it with his widow’s mite, so that others will also emulate his beneficence.

According to him, the hospital shall continue to enjoy all the support it needs under his reign as Mankralo.

In a related development, the MP for the area, who is also the Minority spokesperson on the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, promised to lead a campaign to ensure that the tourism potential of the community is realised. He stressed that the initiative will attract potential investors to the area.
