Damongo: Nurse In Police Grips For Raping Patient On Admission

The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old nurse from the Damango Government Hospital  for allegedly raping an Italian national who was a patient on admission.

XYZ News has learnt the victim, Daniela Manniti who was lodging at the Damango Mole Park guest house after visiting the game reserve, fell sick and was rushed to the facility on Thursday night.

Reports say the nurse who had been assigned to cater for the patient pounced on her at dawn on her sick bed in a private ward at the health facility.

Police say the suspect was arrested by the Damongo Police after the incident was reported to them by the complainant.

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP), Mohammed Yussif Tanko, who spoke to XYZ News narrated that the incident according to the complainant happened on Friday, April 6, 2018.

ASP Tanko Continued that the complainant said at about 4:00 AM the suspect sat by her side and started touching her but because she was too weak to resist the act, the suspect suddenly took her breast into his mouth, removed her panties and had unprotected sex with her.

The suspect, Ernest Green, is currently in Police custody at Tamale as the matter which has been referred to the Regional Headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Tamale continue with further investigations.
