Energy Expert Calls On NPA, LPG Operators To Dialogue To End Strike

An Energy Expert, Kwame Jantuah has called on the National Petroleum Authority, NPA, and striking Ghana LPG Operators Association, GLIPGOA to schedule a meeting to iron out issues on the implementation of the Cylinder Re-circulation Model.

He entrenched positions said taken by parties will not yield any good results for the country.

Speaking on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme “Behind the News,” Mr. Jantuah said the President or his Vice, must intervene to assure aggrieved members of GLIPGOA of addressing their grievances, before the situation gets out of hand.

Meanwhile, the PRO of National Petroleum Authority, NPA, Anny Osabutey, says the strike by the Association of LPG retailers over the cylinder re-circulation policy to be implemented following the gas explosion at Atomic junction is unfortunate.

The plan is to stop LPG outlets from filling empty gas cylinders as part of measures to stop gas explosions.

LPG bottling plants are also to be set up outside residential and commercial areas to fill cylinders for sale at retail outlets.

He said government has a duty to care for its citizens.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr Osabutey said the NPA will not compromise on its stance and will ensure the safety of the consumer is paramount.
