Renowned music producer, Fred Kyei Mensah popularly known as Fredyma appeals to the government to lift restrictions on the Accra International Conference Center.
Speaking on Power FM’s entertainment show, hosted by Agyemang Prempeh, he said the closure of conference centre and cinemas due to the Coronavirus outbreak has brought hardship to the people in the entertainment fraternity so government should lift the ban on conference centre and cinemas since it is also an avenue for revenue generation.
“tax relief for us in the creative industry is good news, covid has really affected those in the creative sector. Artists who were supposed to perform at shows outside Ghana couldn’t go so they were only depending on virtual concerts, which wasn’t really paying enough, the relief is good but where is the work? Open Conference centre so that shows can be held there and 3music awards can also be held there.
He added that, in as much as what the minister for tourism and creative arts said when he was being vetted as a minister-designate about the creative arts sector wasn’t captured in the 2021 budget, he believes it will be Private Public Partnership (PPP).
