Gender Ministry To Identify Potential Women To Contest District Assembly Elections

A Director at the Gender Department at the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection, Dr. Comfort Asare says the Ministry is identifying women with the capability to contest the upcoming district assembly elections.

This is to encourage more women to develop interest in political issues.

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, Dr. Comfort Asare said while the Gender Ministry is doing everything possible to end Female Genital Mutilation, the practice is still rife at Pusiga in the Upper East Region.

She said the Ministry is carrying out programmes to educate the people in the community to stop it.

She said the Ministry is training 4,000 women in dress making, beads making and driving.
