GHS Initiates Probe To Ascertain Identity Of Alleged “Mortuary Man” In Leaked Ebony Video

The Ghana Health Service says it has begun investigations to ascertain the identity of the mortuary attendant allegedly seen fondling the bodies of late dancehall artiste Ebony Reigns and her friend Franky Kuri in a video.

There was widespread condeminations from Ghanaians over the video, reportedly capturing a mortuary attendant touching and examining the badly injured bodies of the pair, leaked on social media over the week.

A statement from the Ghana Health Service and signed by its Director-General, Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare condemned the alleged act and added that the investigation will among other things try to establish whether the incident occurred at a mortuary facility belonging to the service.

“The attention of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has been drawn to publications/broadcast by the print and electronic media on a leaked video of an ‘unidentified’ mortuary attendant/staff fondling corpses alleged to be that of Ebony Reigns and her friend who were involved in a fatal road traffic accident.”

“The GHS has initiated investigations to ascertain the identity of the alleged mortuary man and also to confirm whether the incident occurred in a mortuary facility belonging to the Service,” the statement added.

It went on further to assure Ghanaians that “it upholds the dignity and rights of our patients and will therefore not countenance such unethical conduct if it is established that the alleged mortuary attendant is a staff of the service.”

Ebony and Franky, along with one other person, died on Thursday February 8, 2018 on the Sunyani-Kumasi road in a gory car accident.

Her funeral has been set for March 17, 2018 and will be held at the Black Star Square in Accra.

Meanwhile, Ebony’s manager Ricky Nana Agyemang aka Bullet expressed disgust over the act and described it as appalling.

He had also promised that they would deal with the matter after the funeral scheduled for March 17, 2018.

Meanwhile, Franky Kuri, a former student of Holy Child School, Cape Coast and close friend of dancehall icon, Ebony Reigns was laid to rest on Saturday in Accra.

The burial service which was held at Prince of Peace Catholic church in Kwashieman in Accra, attracted some dignitries including the renowned International Evangelist, Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, actor Fiifi Coleman, Singer Efya.

Late Ebony’s parents, Nana poku Kwarteng and Madam Beatrice Oppong were also there.
