Madam Elizabeth King, Chairperson of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Women’s Commission has congratulated and wished all females, especially women involved in sports a Happy Mothers Day on May 10, 2020.
She noted that this year’s celebrations has been hit by the covid-19 pandemic, and so people should be very careful and observe social distancing.
Madam King who is Vice President of the Ghana Hockey Association said it is not easy when a women is leading, so she called on all involved in the administration of sports to put their shoulders behind the wheel and push to victory.
She expressed that many women have led and contributed to sports development and promotion like Madam Theodocia Okoh, Dr, Deborah Cubagge, Madam Alice Attipoe and others who left memories that can be emulated.
Madam King called for unity and hard work, especially by girls and women doing sports.
She advised that in this covid-19 pandemic era it would be ideal if people observe the safety protocols and especially maintain social distance.
“People have to wear their masks as encouraged by President Akufo Addo, and practice healthy living standards” she stressed.
Madam King said it is sad that the Olympic Games and all international sports activities have been put on hold, but that should not discourage sports people from training and hoping for the best.
She cautioned sports women especially national team athletes to train at home privately to boost their immune system, and also feel good and happy always, not to be sad and weak.
She also called for peace, love and unity among female sports organisers and tasked them to plan for a challenging future as the world would not be the same after the coronavirus is gone.
