How Konkonsa Show started on Radio Gold — Mikki Osei-Berko

Mikki Osei-Berko famously known as Dada Boat has opened up on what brought about a controversial segment on his late afternoon show on Radio Gold.

The ace broadcaster hosted irrefutably one of the country’s biggest radio programmes on the ninety point five dial in the late 90s and early 2000s.

On the show, which seized all the trending spot was a segment dubbed, Konkonsa, presented by a character created and portrayed by Mikki Osei-Berko, Thy Will Be Done Korsivi Korsi.

According to the ace broadcaster, he was the brainchild of the flagship show that touched on several happenings in the political and social sphere of Ghana.

“Management left everything under my control, I created the segments on the show. I created a lot of segments. I did the market survey. I had correspondent at the market. I also did something like Konkonsa,” the veteran said.

Telling what birthed the Konkonsa segment which generated several controversy in the country on TV XYZ, Dada Boat took Legends host Agyemang Prempeh on a trip down memory lane.

“I used to attend club on Sunday nights. Fiifi Pratt played at Glenns Nightclub, Adabraka every Sunday. That was where I visited on Sundays. On one of the days, I went there but stepping down was the first time I saw somebody placing a foam at her breast area. I haven’t seen any before. I was shocked. I didn’t know what the person was removing but one [foam] fell and she was picking it up. At Glenns, there was a mirror area before you get to the female bathroom, so, it seems that was where she was dressing up. Then, the thing [foam] removed and I also approached.

“I wondered if people are creating parts of their body or something. It was funny so the next day on the drive, I decided to talk about it. That is what I witnessed and then, I attribute some of the things to the help of God, it came to me naturally. I schooled in Volta Region – Peki Teaching College,” he recounted.

Using the infamous Ewe-soaked-English-comic voice, he recounted vividly how he apprised his listeners about the appalling incident.

He said, “My brothers and sisters, today the thing that I have seen at the Glenns Nightclub. Choi, I didn’t know that people were creating their own body parts…”

Mr. Osei-Berko said his rating skyrocketed following that day’s programme and that influenced his decision to churn out such contents to entertain his audience.

Although there were several attention driven segments on his show Mikki rooted for Konkonsa as the flagship of them all.
