A veteran musician's last wish

Kwadwo Akwaboah Senior, the celebrated highlife musician and music producer has made an emotional wish.

The ‘Hini Me’ singer who has lost vision says he wish his eyes will be restored in order for him to see again and hug his musician son, Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr., popularly known as Akwaboah.

On the Moments of Truth Segment on TV XYZ’s Legends show on Sunday, he was asked by the host, Agyemang Prempeh what he wishes for.

Sorrowful Kwadwo Akwaboah among other things mentioned that he wish he could see and embrace his son as appreciation for all he’s been doing for him through his challenging times.

“I could see and hug my son [Akwaboah]. My eyes will be restored so I resume work. It is what God gave me, this is not night business. It’s my God given talent.”

According to the popular pianist, his son has been footing his bills since he lost vision in a mysterious way about a decade ago.

“When I was traveling abroad it [eyes] wasn’t like that. The reason for my travel to Holland was to procure my own musical instruments. I decided to travel to Holland to procure my own instruments to aid in my recording. Indeed I was able to secure those materials. But it was when i was away that the eye problems began. It began with my left eye. So I had to end whatever I was doing abroad to return to Ghana.

“Upon my return, I seeked medical care and relied on my right eye to work but it happened that I woke up one day and realized that the right eye was also gone,” Kwadwo Akwaboah recounted how he lost vision.

Though he is now blind, the ‘Awerekyekyere’ hitmaker is hopeful that his eyes will be restored before he dies.
