Kwabenya Cop Killers’ Case Adjourned

An Accra Circuit court on Wednesday, 4 April, adjourned the Kwabenya cell break case to Thursday, 5 April.

The court, which was presided by Justice Aboagye Tandoh, was also expected to give ruling after two of the ten remaining accused persons pleaded guilty to the count of four charges preferred against them.

Second accused person Ata Kwadjo and twelfth accused person Theophilus Banda pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and to escape from lawful custody at the last adjourned date and were subsequently convicted on their own plea. The court was expected to sentence them on Wednesday.

However, lawyers for the accused persons are not happy about the postponement. They claim their clients are innocentof the charges that were preferred against them, reports Class91.3FM’s court correspondent Ibrahim Obeng-Mensah.

It will be recalled that seven suspected criminals broke cell at the Kwabenya police station on Sunday, 21 January 2018.

The seven suspects were assisted by a group of armed robbers to escape from police custody and the attack led to the death of one police officer at the station.
