Kwahu Marathon Winner To Take Home 10,000ghc Plus Air Ticket To RSA

Winner of the 2020 Kwahu Mountain Marathon will take home a whooping cash prize of 10,000ghc and an airline ticket from Asky Airlines.

This was announced by William Ezah, operations manager of Medievents Consult, organisers of the event which comes off on April 11, 2020.

Speaking at the launch of the 2020 edition, he said the they have learnt many lessons and hope to improve upon the previous two editions.

According to Ezah, their objective is to promote sports tourism, unearth talents and give the Kwahu Easter festival a positive image.

He also hinted that they want to attract attention and make the programme the best attain international status.

He expressed that the distance has been reduced from the full marathon of 42km to 21km to make it easy and draw more people to compete.

“We want to attract over 1,000 runners, and our prizes are gorgeous” he stressed.

He disclosed that the winner will get 10, 000ghc plus an airline ticket to take part in the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon.

The runner up will collect 5,000ghc, and the third getting 2,500ghc.

The Female athlete who competes and come first will be awarded 5,000ghc, 2,500ghc to second and 1,000ghc to the third fastest lady.

There would be consolation prizes for the 4th to 10th positions.

Nana Obeng Akrofi Darte I, Bamuhene who launched the third edition of the Kwahu Mountain Marathon urged indigenes of Kwahu, especially students to take part and contribute to the event, especially promote sports tourism.

He thanked companies that are supporting the marathon like Goil, Ghana Gas, Asky Airlines, Promasidor Ghana Ltd, Elbee Appliances, Parin Africa, Ashfoam, Golden Tree Chocolate, MJ Grand Hotel, and Teikma Sports Wears.

Present at the launch were the GOC president, Ben Nunoo Mensah, Kweku Abedu Wilson of the NSA, Bawa Fuseini of the GAA and representatives of the sponsors.

Mathew Nantiere won the first race in 2018, and now the new sensation who has vowed to retain his crown is William Amponsah.
