The Member of Parliament (MP) for Binduri and Deputy Ranking Member of Parliament’s Health Committee, Robert Baba Kuganab-Lem has attributed the refusal of Doctors to accept postings to the Northern Region to the lack of development in the region.

Recent reports indicate that the Northern Region was in shortage of Doctors as no Doctor accepted posting to the region in 2017.

The issue has since raised concerns about the quality of health care being delivered and the difficulty one goes through in assessing Primary Health care.

But Mr Kugnab-Lem  tells XYZ News it does not come as a surprise that no Doctor accepted posting to the region last year.

According to him, government has virtually halted all major projects started by the NDC government which sought to improve upon development in the region.

“That is why we go back to the policies that have destroyed the foundation the NDC government was creating to bring about rural development…rural electrification, we started, so far it has been truncated because you go and the extensions have stopped” he asserted.

He thus urged government to work to improve upon the standards or living in the north so as to whet the appetite of Doctors.
