News about Menzgold CEO, Nana Appiah Mensh’s arrival went viral on social media attracting scores of journalists to the Kotoka International Airport before 11.30am, when the plane carrying him was expected to touch down.
But as anticipated, national security operatives swerved the cameras and initial information suggested he was whisked away to the Police CID headquarters for interrogation.
Those who pitched camp there early fed on speculations but the news has opened yet another chapter into the MENZGOLD case.
Among those who rushed to the Police CID headquarters were family members, key MENZGOLD staff who were allowed access, Kwame A Plus and reporters who spent hours waiting.
Public Relations Officer for MENGOLD Ghana Limited, Nii Armah Amaterifio says he was picked up for debriefing because he has been on ITERPOL wanted list and there will be no immediate press briefing.
He however appealed to aggrieved customers to allow NAM1 to settle down first.

Nana Appiah Mensah was declared a fugitive after he reportedly jumped bail late last year during investigations by the Economics and Organized Crime Office, EOCO.
The story about his collapsed business and his subsequent trial in Dubai has been checkered. He was arrested on Christmas Day, December 7, 2018 upon arrival in Dubai.
The Emirates charged him with fraud in a $39million gold deal with an Emirati company, Horizon Royal Diamond managed by a Lebanese, and arraigned him before Court in January this year.
Ghana’s effort to secure his extradition then failed. This triggered series of demonstrations in Tarkwa, Kumasi and Accra with calls on government to intervene.
NAM 1 was acquitted on Tuesday April 9. MENZGOLD customers expectations were dashed when the company filed an appeal but that was dismissed early this month.
There is however uncertainty about the status of his seized assets, if Ghana government will prosecute him for jumping bail and most importantly when MENZGOLD customers will be paid.
In a leaked conversation last month, the beleaguered Menzgold CEO , Nana Appiah Mensah said he is prepared to pay off the locked up cash once he is released from detention.
