Another major arrest of National Identification Authority in secrete registration for Ghana Card in a Church building at Awoshie has been made. The news attracted scores who stormed the Victory Bible Church building in the Ga West District of the Greater Accra Region.
One of busted officers, identified as Derick Kingsford Ablorh confessed during interrogation by Deputy National Organizer of the NDC, Chief Hamilton Biney Nixon who rushed to the scene, that the authority was responding to a request by the Church to register its members. According to the NIA regulations, the exercise takes place only from Mondays to Saturdays.
Myxyzonline has intercepted by signed by one Col, rtd Kwame Ghansah, Head of Operations for the National Identification Authority on behalf of the Executive Secretary to the Administrator of Victory Bible Church, Awoshie branch requesting to use their premises as a registration center and storage of materials from May 19 to 29th.
It however did not comment or refer to any special request to undertake special registration for Church members. The development comes just days after the NIA announced the dismissal of about 12 officers for similar infractions.
NIA sanctioned church registrations:
The National Identification Authority (NIA) says it authorized the registration for the Ghana Card at some Churches within the Accra West Zone on Sunday May 19, 2019.
The NIA in a statement signed by Head of Corporate Affairs of NIA, ACI Francis Palmdeti said the Churches offered their premises as registration centres for the duration of the Mass Registration exercise and in return requested that the NIA considers dedicating one Sunday to register their members.
ACI Francis Palmdeti, in the statement named the Churches as follows; 1. St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Kwashieman. 2. Assemblies of God Church, Otaten. 3. Engrafted Word Chapel, Otaten. 4. Presbyterian Church (Mt. Zion Congregation), Odorkor 5. Victory Bible Church, Awoshie. 6. Afropa House, Darkuman. 7. Trinity Presbyterian Church, Santamaria School Complex.
It said registration officials responsible for the aforementioned registration centres were duly authorized to register the congregants of the respective churches. The exercise was under the strict supervision of the Head of Operations.
