The National Women’s Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Hanna Louisa Bisiw, has distributed locally manufactured nose masks to some residents in Ahafo Region.
The over 10,000 masks, which have the capacity to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus among humans, were distributed to hawkers, traders in various markets, drivers and passengers in some parts of the region.
In a sensitization exercise to help residents reduce their risk of contracting the deadly virus, Dr Bisiw, a former Member of Parliament for Tano South, distributed the nose masks at
The face masks were distributed at the Bechem,Techimantia, Dwomo and Derma markets.
Over the weekend, the former Minister also distributed protective masks to drivers and passengers at the Bechem,Techimantia and Derma lorry stations all in the Tano South Municipality.
Some residents in the aforementioned towns also received some masks in their homes when the former Legislator visited them to sensitize them on the pandemic.
The NDC Women’s leader told Power FM News she owed the people the kind gesture as a way of giving back to the society, especially at a time as the country is struggling to contain the community spread of the virus.
Although the Ahafo Region has not recorded any COVID-19 case, it’s neighbours–the Bono, Ashanti and Western North Regions–have recorded cases while dozens have been quarantined awaiting their test results.
“I am donating these masks to my people in the Tano area to help them protect themselves from contracting the virus while undergoing their daily activities,” Dr Bisiw noted.
Last Month, she distributed Veronica buckets, bottles of hand sanitizers and other sanitary items to all markets, Police posts, markets and some government institutions to help curb the spread of the virus.
Dr Bisiw said she would continue to educate the people on the virus as a way to curb it’s spread.
