Born Louis Akwaboah, Ghanaian Highlife musician and music producer, Kwadwo Akwaboah Senior has asked new crop of musicians in the country to consult veteran artists for advice and guidance.
This, the famed musician said, will propel the new crop of Ghanaian musicians to greatness in their career.
To him, music is a long journey and any novice doing it professionally should seek advice from experienced musicians.
“Music is a long journey. To our sons doing music it is very good but see the Legends in the industry for advice,” Kwadwo Akwaboah told Agyemang Prempeh on TV XYZ.
Speaking on the latest edition of the Legends show which aired on Sunday, June 28, the ‘Awerekyekyere’ hit singer intimated that his late father, Kwabena Akwaboah who was a revered highlife musician shaped his career.
According to him, his deceased father played a major role in his career and made sure he always churned out good songs for fans and music lovers.
As a result, he edited and arranged his songs to acertain it’s devoid of profanity or any unpalatable contents before he release them.
“After writing the songs, I give it to him for rectification. You know as young people we wanted to use certain words but he’d object it, cancel it then write lyrics for me. “Sing it this way, that way”
“Before I release an album my father knows all the songs on it. If the keyboard doesn’t sound a certain way he likes, he’d tell me how to use play even though he’s not a keyboardist,” he disclosed.
Kwadwo Akwaboah Senior has six albums to his credit. Most of his songs topped-charts and are household songs in Ghana.
Known to have worked with great musicians including the likes of Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Nana Ampadu, Nicholas Omane Acheampong and many others, Kwadwo Akwaboah comes from a family of great talents.
