Ghanaian actor, Mr. Beautiful in response to Socrate Safo’s assertion that telenovelas can not be banned, indicated that he does not deserve his position.
Mr. Beautiful and Socrate clashed in an interview with Agyemang Prempeh on Power 97.9 FM on Saturday, March 15.
Socrate, who was recently appointed as the director for Film Classification Committee explained that the government can not ban telenovelas.
”It is our wish to do such things. But do you do that the likes of Salam, Shirley Frimpong Manso have series currently showing in countries? If we ban theirs, then it means we put in structures so we control the window. Or else, we don’t take ours out, ” Socrate explained.
Clement Bonney, known widely as Mr. Beautiful countered by saying ”I’m not clear with that explanation. I said we should ban Mexican soap operas and not Nigerian movies. You don’t deserve the position given you if you have such a mentality.”
He further added that no NPP President, past or present has (had) the creative arts industry at heart.
