The Office of the Special Prosecutor is downplaying the authenticity of a list on the status of 25 cases currently under its investigations. In the list, allegations against appointees of both former President John Mahama and President Akufo Addo are at various stages of investigations with some ready for prosecutions in the coming days.
The list includes former President Mahama over alleged diversion of $13m investments, MP for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayaariga, former Gender Minister, Nana Oye Lithur, Minority Leader, Haruna Iddirusu, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, CEO of the Forestry Commission, Kwadjo Owusu Afriyie, NPP National Chairman, Freddie Blay over the acquisition of 275 busses, MPs over the double salary saga among others.
But Chairman of the OSP Board, Mrs Ofori Kwafo says the list is not authentic. She added “that the Special Prosecutor is under no obligation to let out details of cases he is pursuing”
“I don’t speak for the OSP [Office of the Special Prosecutor], but I just want us to all know that as much as we all want corruption dealt with and people investigated properly and sanctioned when the need arises we should also make sure the office works according to its procedures,” she advised.
