Madam Elizabeth King, chairperson of the Womens’ Commission of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has lauded the decision by president Nana Akufo Addo to lift restrictions on contact sports.
Lizy King who is also the vice president of the Ghana Hockey Association (GHA) and an executive member of the international hockey federation said “it is pleasant and welcoming news, as there are international tournaments early next year, in February and Match, so they were wondering how they can play without training, so it is a jubilant news”.
She has been an inspiration to many hockey players and a retired personnel of the Ghana Prisons Service who are in sports.
She urged all hockey players to be motivated by the words of the president, step up their training and eat well especially local dishes.
Auntie Lizy noted that many lessons have been learnt in the Covid-19 era and sportsmen and women should be in the forefront in educating the public on the pandemic.
She also cautioned Ghanaians to keep wearing their face masks, wash hands with soap under running water and use sanitisers as required by the WHO and local authorities in adherence to COVID-19 prevention protocols.
